I Walked from Assi Ghat to Raj Ghat

I wrote a bit ago how walkable Varanasi is. If you didn’t read it you can check it out here.

I also mentioned how I wanted to walk from Assi ghat to Raj ghat. After putting it off, I finally did it. At first the plan was to get up early and have a delightful morning trek from the southernmost ghat to the northernmost ghat.

The plan changed. This was on account of me simply wanting to sleep in on a Saturday.  So instead of a breezy, easy walk, it turned into a 100+ degree adventure.

Check out this short video I made of the journey to Raj ghat.

Walking to Raj Ghat, while a few miles far, was very enjoyable. Each ghat has a different style and story and there are plenty of opportunities to meet people- though maybe not as many at 2pm in the afternoon on a hot and sunny day. Most people wanted me to go to their shops or buy water from them, but I was on a mission.

Something as simple as walking from one place to another in Varanasi can leave you with a sense of accomplishment and plenty of new things to see along the way.

Here I am feeling tired, but triumphant at Raj Ghat!

If you ever find yourself in Varanasi on a nice day, definitely check it out, bring your sunscreen, bring your water, and enjoy!

Have any of you done a middle of the afternoon long walk somewhere?
